Our desire is to leave Dayton better than we found it by making long-lasting, simple, and spiritual differences throughout the city and beyond.
Our mission is to cultivate a God-present and life-changing environment where people are transformed into passionate followers of Jesus Christ, who demonstrate God’s endless and unconditional love to the world.
We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and equips to minister to others. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.
Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin. This attitude separates man from God.
The Bible is God’s word to all mankind. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.
Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
Salvation is a gift from God to mankind. Mankind can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in the salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security.
As a church, we believe there are some foundational truths that help define our personality in the wider Church and carry our unique way of doing life as Christians.
We express our love for God with authentic affection.
Our faith is demonstrated through our love for our neighbors.
We grow in maturity in Christ-centered gatherings.
We demonstrate God’s heart by having a heart of compassion for the least.
We strive to live a balanced life that is sensitive to the Word and Spirit.
Our faith includes trying new things and taking risks to extend the Kingdom.
As a teen, our founding pastor, Doug Roe found Christ and was looking to be part of a church that was doing what Jesus did. He would look unsuccessfully until the 1980s when he was introduced to the ministry of John Wimber and the Vineyard Church movement. Doug and his wife Marcie, found the church they had been looking for the moment they walked into the Vineyard Church in Cincinnati.
Doug, who always desired a role in church leadership, would join the staff of The Cincinnati Vineyard, leaving his job in corporate America. It was during that time Doug would meet Scott Sliver, a worship leader and a small businessman. Becoming friends the duo would learn they shared a unique dream, to see a church like the Vineyard in Dayton.
Soon the two ordinary guys would pack up their families and leave Cincinnati for Dayton to change the world. They would plant The Vineyard church in Dayton with a single goal, to make a lasting change in the city in simple ways with the love and power of God. Since planting the church over 30 years ago, they have never looked back, leading the church in innovative ways of making God’s love known throughout the city and beyond.
Our dedicated team of pastors and staff are here to help you on your faith journey.
