The Barnabas Generation is a group of people in the Dayton Vineyard who are 50 years of age and older. There are approximately 400 people in the Vineyard who can participate in this ministry. The following Mission Statement defines our goals;
The Barnabas Generation Ministry of the Dayton Vineyard exists for advancing the Kingdom of God and bringing glory to the Father in heaven by; promoting the personal spiritual growth of our members, providing opportunities for service to the community, pursuing ministry opportunities within the Vineyard Body, participating in fun and fellowship, and providing mentoring for younger believers in the faith.
Providing spiritual growth for our members will be accomplished via small groups of believers meeting together in homes for Bible Study. Many times, as we get older, we tend to lose passion in our relationship with Jesus. A new passion is available when a spark of fire is applied to our heart.
Providing service to our community will be accomplished via small groups of people who have a compassion for ministry to others who are not in our church. Examples of this ministry are; helping feed the poor at our community breakfast at the Dayton Campus, distributing food at our mobile pantry, and working with our youth group on special service projects.
Pursuing ministry within the Vineyard body will help us advance the Kingdom of God by; Grandparent mentoring for children in our elementary age group, working in the Community of Hope, and greeting card ministry.
Participating in fun and fellowship is an important part of our lives. We will promote new friendships within our ministry by; having bi-monthly luncheons, taking one-day road trips, having a community garden, providing educational programs and working together in small groups on special projects.
Many of us have had plenty of good, and bad, experiences in our walk with the Lord down through the years. Much wisdom has been gained from these experiences. We will offer this growing experience to our church body in the form of mentoring others who are having problems and would like to have a friend to help them work things out. Your personal testimony is a great asset in helping others.
The Barnabas Generation is a ministry of encouragement to others as the Lord leads us to help build His church. Will you be willing to join us on this adventure?
