Vineyard Church
Missions Overview 2010

Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, & to the ends of the Earth!

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere — in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8; NLT).

The pattern, according to Jesus, is to start first where you are … in your own backyard or neighborhood, your city, your region, your nation, and then go to the rest of the world. Our vision for missions is to move towards offering experiences locally, regionally, nationally and internationally each year.

Since the beginning of The Vineyard Church, we have had a tangible burden for the lost, poor, and broken of the local Greater Dayton area. By the grace of God, there has been a tremendous amount of time, energy, and money spent on taking the compassion and testimony of Christ to the city. God has blessed our ministry to the city with tremendous fruit! That has been, and will continue to be, one of the hallmarks of our church.

In terms of offering experiences regionally and nationally, we have taken teams in the past to the Appalachia area of the states to our east and most recently, to the 9th Ward of New Orleans last year to assist with the re-building of Beulah Land Baptist Church which was destroyed by hurricane Katrina.

When it comes to the nations - we have sent teams to Africa, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and the Ukraine. This year we want to continue to take God’s love and encouragement to the church and the lost wherever God gives us opportunity. Each of the trips will have a slightly different emphasis in ministry.

This area will be redeveloped with a team of people led by Doug Roe beginning with a visioning retreat in 2010. We invite you to pray for God's wisdom as we prepare to relaunch missions in the coming year.

In addition to our current categories of emphasis (Local, Regional/National, International) which are being strengthened; training in the area of missions will be offered as part of our Christian Life and Service Seminars (C.L.A.S.S); boot camp training experiences for mission team participants and mission team leaders including manuals for members, leaders & assistant leaders are also being explored.

Reducing the cost of mission experiences is a priority through budgeting of key areas verses expecting teams to bear the entire cost of trips through their own funds.

Our goal is to develop a “culture of missions” throughout the church, from Vineyard Kidz to v-Youth to adults.

If you have any ideas, questions, or suggestions regarding missions please don't hesitate to contact Doug Roe or call 937-427-1912.
