Giving My Best

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17 (NLT)

For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. Isaiah 9:6-7 (NKJV)

O Bethlehem, (you) are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler ...will come from you,

One whose origins are from the distant past...
(One who) will be highly honored around the world.
(One who) will be the source of peace. Micah 5:2-5 (NLT)

God has a present for you:

1. Wonderful: takes care of the dullness of life.

When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching... The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” Matthew 7:28 & 8:27 (NIV)

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10 (NIV)

2. Counselor: takes care of the decisions of life.

You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. Psalm 73:24 (NLT)

(Jesus) “I am the Good Shepherd... After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them.” John 10:11, 4 (NLT)

3. Mighty God: takes care of the demands of life.

All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). Isaiah 7:14 (NLT)

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)

4. Everlasting Father: takes care of the difficulties of life.

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.” John 14:1 (NLT)

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.” John 15:9 (NIV)

5. Prince of Peace: takes care of the disturbances of life.

That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.” Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven— praising God and saying, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” Luke 2:8-14(NLT)

Inner peace is the ability to lay down at night and to look up at the ceiling and know everything is going to be all right when everything is not all right.

“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up... For I am the Lord, your God...your Savior.” Isaiah 43:2-3 (NLT)
